Basement Walls

This week we have poured the basement walls! The big hole in the ground is taking shape. It has been amazing to see how quickly it has come together.

We've also had plenty of light saber battles over who controls which mound of dirt - the jedi or the clones!

This coming week the plan is to finish the plumbing rough-ins, pour the basement floor and then start framing the walls in the basement. We aren't finishing the basement, but plan to have the supports made from walls instead of metal poles. We will be finishing the basement bathroom now.

First Dig

Digging has begun! On Monday, September 13, 2010 the first dirt was moved for the basement of the new house. Work has been going on for months, and I'll give background over time, but we are all excited about the big hole in our backyard this week.

This week we've already gotten the basement dug, the footers poured and the tiling put in for the basement. Most important to the boys though is that we still have mountains of dirt for them to play on!
